The focus group has been rescheduled for January 7, 2015.
40 Below members are invited to participate in a Young Professionals Mining Focus Group on Wednesday, January 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Vierling Restaurant and Marquette Harbor Brewery. The purpose of the focus groups is to access community members’ views on mining in the area. Focus groups are being hosted throughout Marquette and Baraga counties, and these groups include, but are not limited to, groups interested in environmental monitoring, business, community health, labor, and government. Participants will be led in a respectful discussion about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of mining in the Upper Peninsula. The study is being funded by Eagle Mine LLC. and the research is being conducted independently by two economists, Tawni Hunt Ferrarini and Marcelo Siles. Reports from the 2010 and 2012 focus groups can be found at http://miningandcommunities.
Appetizers will be provided. Please RSVP on the 40 Below website: http://40belowmqt.org/young-professionals-mining-focus-group.
