Board Member Farewell
January's membership spotlight says farewell to three long-time board members whose terms recently expired. Join us in thanking them for their leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication to 40 Below.
Ross Anthony
In true Yooper style, Ross was born in the U.P.'s Keweenaw peninsula and migrated to Marquette at an early age. Since that time, he has left the area twice to explore other parts of the country, only to realize that the U.P. was the only place to live. A graduate of Marquette Senior High School and Northern Michigan University, Ross was lucky enough find a job in Marquette and build a career and life with his wife Lucy and 3 year old daughter Jordyn. After 9 years with Wells Fargo, Ross recently accepted a position with Honor Credit Union as the branch manager of their Marquette Branch. Aside from his day job Ross finds time to give back to the community that has given him so much. Ross is currently the President of Superiorland Kiwanis, Start Finish Coordinator for the UP 200, past 40 Below board member and founding member, and South Shore Fishing Association Committee member, along with many other community involvements. When Ross isn't working or volunteering, you'll most likely find him somewhere on the water or spending time with his family. He especially loves venturing out on any of the Great Lakes, but spends most of his time trolling the Marquette harbors of Lake Superior.
Ashley Pease
Originally from Gladstone, Michigan. Ashley moved to Marquette in 2000 to attend college at Northern Michigan University. He graduated with a bachelors of science degree in Sociology in 2005. In 2008, Ashley started working as a personal financial advisor with the Hantz Group of Marquette. His goal is to help clients hit their financial goals through comprehensive financial planning while hopefully minimizing any potential obstacles along the way. In 2010, Ashley was approached about joining the board of directors for a new organization for young professionals to network. The result would later become 40 Below. "Over the last four years I have been honored to be a part of the board of directors and to help guide the direction of the organization which has grown and become better than I could have ever envisioned at the beginning," says Ashley. He looks forward to continuing on with the organization in the future as an active member.
John Spigarelli
John Spigarelli was born and raised in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He attended Northern Michigan University, earning his bachelors degree in Public Relations in 2001. While at NMU and post graduation he worked diligently with the Getz family in Marquette to create, grow, and lead their nationally recognized e commerce division, Getzs.com. During his 15-year tenure he was directly responsible for creating 10 full time positions and 20+ part time positions within the company. In the spring of 2013, John left Getzs to join the team at Elegant Seagulls, a creative agency based in Marquette that services some of the nations largest and most recognizable brands. Serving as director of marketing, he continues to drive visibility, growth, and create employment opportunities. He has also served as a committee member on the Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. He is a proponent of a vibrant and growing downtown and a community that supports that vision. Marquette truly is his ideal city to reside in. John was a founding board member of 40 Below and served as charter president of the organization for three years. He also has been a member of the communications and events committees. In his spare time John enjoys cycling, reading, gathering with friends, and cooking.
